SCCGE Summer Scholarship

The South Carolina Consortium for Gifted Education established the Melba McKenzie Summer Scholarship program for Gifted Education as a tribute to the spirit and perseverance of Melba McKenzie, a former officer of the SCCGE Board of Directors from Hampton School District 2. In the spring of 2006, the SCCGE Board voted to name the arts scholarships award under the auspices of this program after LeAnn Crosby, a long-time advocate for gifted students in Colleton County and South Carolina and also a former member of the SCCGE Board.

These scholarships, in an amount not to exceed $750, cover or partially cover tuition for academically or artistically gifted students at the middle school level to attend a summer program. Each of the eight G/T professional development regions was asked to disseminate applications and choose their region's top three applications to submit to the SCCGE Selection Committee for consideration.
