Mary Sturgill is a nationally award-winning journalist who is currently the weekend anchor for News 19 WLTX. As a journalist she’s lived all over the country in Maryland, Arizona, Idaho, Texas and now South Carolina. Originally from North Carolina, she graduated from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill with a degree in English literature. She attended graduate school at Arizona State University to receive her master’s degree in journalism and mass communications at the Walter Cronkite School.

As a journalist Mary has covered just about every topic. She had a talk show in Texas that won an EMMA for her coverage and investigation into human trafficking there. That story prompted the DA’s office and the local law-enforcement agencies to create a human trafficking task force. Her national Society of professional journalist award was for a story she did on an abused child who survived and is now thriving with the help of CASA and the grandparent who adopted him.

In her free time, Mary is an avid runner. She spends time advocating for the causes close to her heart and raising awareness about the wonderful opportunities in our community to give back and make a difference.
