SCCGE board member Cindy Riddle to serve on Kennedy Center committee

A Spartanburg School District 1 administrator was recently chosen to serve on the Kennedy Center Partners in Education advisory committee.

Cindy Riddle, the district’s assistant superintendent of visual and performing arts, was chosen to serve on the national committee. She’s one of eight members nationwide who will serve a three-year term on the board.

Riddle will advise the Kennedy Center’s education division on new professional development initiatives, solicit nominations for other committees, and help read and respond to materials from the Kennedy Center.

Along with responsibilities with District 1, Riddle is president-elect of the S.C. Arts Education Association, and she was awarded the Deborah Smith Hoffman Mentor Award, designated for those who demonstrate a commitment to mentoring art educators.

The Partners in Education program of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., is designed to assist arts organizations throughout the country to develop or expand educational partnerships with their local school systems. The primary purpose of these partnerships is to provide professional learning in the arts for teachers.
